The Scover is a shelter of fire-resistant fabric under which a mobility scooter can easily be placed. If the scooter ignites by itself, the internal extinguisher fights the fire at once, while the smoke stays under the fabric. In a fire from outside, the fabric slows the spread of fire to the scooter. Price on request.
Fire safety and liability
The Scover adds considerably to fire and smoke safety at locations where mobility scooters are parked in corridors and entrance halls. Users can keep their scooter within reach and parked safely. For many older and physically disabled people, a mobility scooter is how they take part in society without help. There are roughly 300,000 mobility scooter users in the Netherlands, many of them in apartment buildings and care institutions, where parking is often a problem because fire safety is at stake.
Owners, managers and operators of buildings and care institutions can expect substantial claims for injury and damage in case of fire if they have not taken suitable measures. The Haaglanden Safety Region has accepted the Scover as an alternative to structural changes that cannot be realised, provided the applicable fire safety regulations are met.
