A charging locker is the answer to charging and keeping bike batteries safely: each one in its own ventilated compartment with its own charging point, behind a lock, instead of side by side on a workbench.
One fixed place to charge several batteries
With e-bikes only growing in popularity, that is no luxury. Lithium-ion batteries are expensive and therefore attractive to thieves, and they need careful handling to prevent damage or a battery fire. A charging locker gives you one fixed place to store and charge several e-bike batteries safely.
Since 2023 we have produced our lockers ourselves in the Netherlands. In that time we have developed several models for commercial premises, apartment buildings, schools and institutions. What sets them apart are the roomy, ventilated compartments and the choice of locking: a key lock as standard, with a code lock, RFID or app control as options.
In practice, insurers set conditions on how and when charging is allowed, for example only with the original charger and only while staff are present. A fixed charging setup demonstrably shows you have arranged for that. Check your own policy schedule, as the conditions differ per policy.

- Commercial premises. Staff and customer batteries charging in one place.
- Apartment buildings and residents' associations. Residents who would otherwise charge indoors or in the hallway.
- Schools and institutions. A central, lockable charging spot for changing users.

No product standard is stated for the lockers themselves. What does come into play is PGS 37-2, but note: that guideline is about how storage is arranged in your building, not about the product you buy. A locker can therefore never be “PGS 37-2 certified”, however often that is sold as such.
